Dive Into a Good Read
Posted on 08/16/2010
It’s hard to take time away from your busy life and invest into something else like a good book. Turn off that television every once in a while and crack open a novel.
It can be unfulfilling to hear people talk about all the books they have read. Don’t feel flustered. Remember the names of these books that interest you. Try to come up with other titles and start creating a list.
Set a goal to read a specific amount of books in your lifetime. Create a list of the top 100 books you wish to read. As you read some of the books, add more to the list that you come across and check them off as you go.
Remember that you aren’t competing with anyone. Go at your own pace and read whenever you have time. If you like discussing books after you read them, try getting a group of your friends together to start a book club. This can help you set reading goals and a pace for yourself.
Reward yourself for taking the time to expand your horizons. If you just finished reading a book that has a movie based off of it, treat yourself to that movie and compare and contrast the two works of art.
Don’t read something that you don’t like. If you read enough to give it a shot and still can’t get into it, start a different book to ensure you’re enjoying what you’re reading.
