Get Fired Up at a Pottery Place

There are hundreds of pieces of bare pottery just waiting to be graced with your dazzling painting skills. Do-it-yourself pottery places make for a great afternoon with family or friends. Whether it’s a light switch cover, bathroom soap dish, frog figurine or just a plain old plate, you’re guaranteed to walk out having just created a completely original piece of art.

The process is quick and easy. Pick out your piece, choose your colors and let your inner Picasso go to work—or perhaps you’re more of an abstract, Kandinsky-type. Whatever your style, there’s a brilliant masterpiece awaiting it’s creation. After about a week, once they’ve had time to put it in the kiln, you’ll be able to pick up your freshly fired pottery.

And if, for some reason, your pottery turns out, let’s say sub-par, you can always gift it to you mother, who’s “Wow, it’s incredible!” attitude toward anything you create never seems to wear off. Aunts and grandmothers are viable options too, but their reactions aren’t guaranteed to be as sugar coated.

After you’re finished, your pieces are most likely begging to be discussed. Go grab a coffee or a quick bite and talk about your artistic decisions. Or maybe just take turns mocking each other’s “art”.
