Are You Ready for Some Football?

As the air begins to get crisper, the thought that’s on many minds is the much-anticipated football season festivities. Whether you are an ardent fan and never miss a game, choose to root on the team from the parking lot or catch the game from the comfort of your La-Z-Boy; we can all agree that this is a truly exciting time of the year.

Football season is great for the games, but what makes it even better is the food. Whether you dine at a restaurant, carry out your favorite meal or slay friends’ expectations from your prowess on the grill, food is the essential part of the fall and football season.

Go Local
Not only are you helping to support small scaled farming operations when you buy locally, you are also getting better ingredients. If the integrity of the dish is the sum of its parts, then shouldn't you gun for some quality ingredients? Before your next hosting gig, take time to check out your local farmer’s market. The freshness of the meat and vegetables, combined with the wide array of products will ensure your continued success on the grill.

Huddle at the Hot Spots
Chances are you’ve got your favorite game-day watering hole that you frequent during the season. While there are eateries out there that have great traditions and a good following, it may be time for a new tradition. Try to break free from your normal game-day routine and tie your horse up at a new post. Read reviews and do some research. Who knows? Maybe you’ll make some new friends and start to feel at home in your new atmosphere.

Root, Root, Root for the Away Team
If you’re one of the few that is lucky enough to travel to see your favorite team play, then you have a trove of culinary treasures open to you. With each new town or region you enter, there will undoubtedly be a local food that fans are crazy about. Be sure to look both inside and outside of the stadium to find those local treasures. Even though you may be wearing different colors, don’t hesitate to ask a local.

The weather is getting cooler and the grills are warming up, so take advantage of it. Whether you’re at a sports bar, at the game or enjoying each other’s company with some beverages in the parking lot, there is always a way to find great food. Happy football season.
